Italian champions FC Internazionale Milano unveiled AS Roma's Brazilian midfielder Mancini as José Mourinho's first signing this afternoon.
Four-year contract
The 27-year-old, whose contract with Roma had just one more season to run, penned a four-year deal after the clubs agreed a fee of €12.5m. Having moved to Italy from CA Mineiro in 2002 with Serie B side AC Venezia, Mancini joined Roma a year later and went on to score 40 goals in 154 top-flight appearances. The new signing said: "Our dream is to win Serie A and the UEFA Champions League. With the squad we have, everything is possible. I had five fabulous years at Roma but my first impressions of Inter are also very positive. I have just met Mourinho. We have both arrived in Milan to achieve something special for Inter."
Bolzoni extends
Meanwhile, 19-year-old midfielder Francesco Bolzoni has renewed his contract with the Nerazzurri until 2012. Having joined Inter's youth system when he was eleven, Bolzoni made his first team debut in February 2007 in the Coppa Italia semi-final against UC Sampdoria. He did not play in Serie A last term but appeared twice in the UEFA Champions League against PSV Eindhoven. In November 2007 he made his debut with Italy Under-21, becoming the second youngest player ever to play at that level for his country. Under Mourinho, who replaced Roberto Mancini as coach in June, Inter will return to the UEFA Champions League group stage in September.

Bravo Lewis Hamilton..
McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton scored the fourth victory of his 2008 season here at Hockenheim on Sunday - and he did it the hard way. For the first 34 laps he ran away and hid from his pursuers, led by Ferrari’s Felipe Massa, but then Timo Glock ran hard into the pit wall after the right-rear suspension of his Toyota appeared to fail, and all hell broke loose.
The safety car was deployed as the shards of debris were cleared, and the moment the pit lane opened there was a rush to refuel for the final stints. In came everyone, apart from Hamilton, BMW Sauber’s Nick Heidfeld and Renault’s Nelson Piquet had just been in when Glock crashed.
Suddenly, the complexion of the race had changed totally, for Hamilton was still stuck behind the safety car and the rest had a clear run at him and a pit stop in hand. But his trump card was the presence of Heidfeld in second place and Piquet third, ahead of his sternest challenger, Massa.
By the 50th lap Hamilton had opened a lead of 15.7s over Massa in fourth place, but it was far from enough. He needed 23. As he finally refuelled he fell to fifth place, behind Heidfeld, Piquet, Massa and McLaren team mate Heikki Kovalainen.
Kovalainen soon succumbed, on lap 52. Then Heidfeld stopped to refuel on lap 53. So now it was Piquet leading, with Hamilton thirsting after Massa. Down came the gap, from just under four seconds to virtually nothing, and on the 57th lap the Brazilian fell prey to the Englishman as they braked for the hairpin. He fought back valiantly two corners later, but Hamilton was not in any mood to be denied, and now only Piquet stood between him and victory.
Lap by lap he hunted down his old GP2 adversary, until the inevitable happened, again at the hairpin. By the flag he was 5.5s clear, and four points ahead of a resigned Massa in the title stakes - 58 to 54.
Piquet clung on to the place fortune had gifted him - for the first half of the race he was down in 14th place - and Massa fended off Heidfeld in the closing stages to take the final podium position.
Kovalainen clung on for fifth ahead of fellow Finn Kimi Raikkonen, whose subdued sixth place earned him three points after he had overtaken BMW Sauber’s Robert Kubica and left him third overall on 51 points. Kubica has 48, for fourth.
The final point went to Sebastian Vettel after a feisty run for Toro Rosso saw him see off the likes of Toyota’s Jarno Trulli and Renault’s Fernando Alonso, who were ninth and 11th after the latter spun at the hairpin late in the race. Nico Rosberg was 10th for Williams, embroiled in the fight late in the race.
Sebastien Bourdais was also close to Alonso by the finish in the second Toro Rosso, and the Frenchman was followed home by Red Bull’s David Coulthard, who made a poor start and later survived a brush with Rubens Barrichello which resulted in the Honda’s demise. Giancarlo Fisichella was 14th for Force India, ahead of Williams’ Kazuki Nakajima, Force India’s Adrian Sutil and Honda’s Jenson Button, who ran into mechanical trouble and finished last.
Mark Webber’s Red Bull lost its engine as the safety car was deployed, and Glock was taken to hospital for precautionary checks after his heavy backward impact with the pit wall, but is okay.
What had looked set to be a low key race literally exploded into life due to Glock’s crash and McLaren’s gamble in keeping Hamilton out when everyone else pitted. Luckily for McLaren, Hamilton had the ability to make sure the gamble paid off.
Jakabaring Bergemuruh, Sriwijaya Bantai Persiwa 3-1
Supporter sriwijaya hari ini bersorak, gegap gempita bergumuruh di stadion jakabaring. Sriwijaya berhasil membantai persiwa dengan skor 3-1. Rahmad Darmawan sang arsitek, benar-benar memberikan sentuhan terbaiknya terhadap tim kesayangan kita Sriwijaya FC. Barisan pertahan pun kembali solid dengan hadirnya Zubairo yang telah sembuh dari cederanya.
Mengawali gol pertama yang disarangkan oleh Kayamba dari sudut kiri kotak pinalti pada pertengahan babak pertama. Supporter sriwijaya langsung bergumuruh, tak pelak kegembiraan pun mewarnai semua penonton yang hadir di stadion jakabaring. Hasil 1-0 bertahan sampai akhir babak pertama.
Pada babak kedua stadion yang tadinya diguyur hujan, mulai reda. Gol kedua pun disarangkan oleh Obiora pada awal babak kedua yang dihasilkan dari kemelut di depan gawang. Tak berhenti sampai disitu, Korinus F yang menggantikan Kayamba karena cedera ringan juga ikut memperbesar kemenangan Sriwijaya menjadi 3-0 pada pertengahan akhir babak kedua.
Kemenangan sriwijaya membuat lengah barisan pertahanan Sriwijaya FC, sehingga pemain depan persiwa berhasil menjebol gawang yang dikawal oleh Dede Sulaiman di akhir-akhir babak kedua.
Hasil akhir 3-1 ini pun membuat tim Sriwijaya FC berhasil menyodok ke urutan atas klasemen sementara Indonesia Super League 2008. (oka@cyber)

The post-race rider interviews at the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix gathered the three podium finishers in close proximity once more, to provide their views on a thrilling race.
Valentino Rossi – Racewinner
`For me it has been fantastic. It´s the first time that I´ve been able to win here, and it was an unbelievable race. The crew made some modifications and I was able to take a much better pace. I had a good start, then a great battle with Casey, which was a lot of fun. It´s an important victory –very emotional- and now in the summer break we will relax, because the championship is so long.´
Casey Stoner – Second Placed
`The mistake I made past halfway was mine; I ran a little wide and lost the front on the turn as I tried to get back on track. It was race over after that. I enjoyed a lot of the race, but I felt that some of the passes a bit too much for me. I´ve been racing for a lot of years and have come through a lot of different ranks, and for me just a couple of passes were a little too much. I would have liked to have had a little bit of a cleaner battle, but anyway we are happy with the result. We´re still at the front of the championship and not too far off.´
Chris Vermeulen – Third Placed
`It was difficult starting from the third row, and these guys got away early. I had a bit of a battle with Hayden and Dovizioso for a few laps, and once we got past them then we had more pace than everyone else. These two were too quick for us today. To be back on the podium in the dry proves that Suzuki are improving, and I´m looking forward to Brno now.´

Pedrosa Crash in German
A crash suffered whilst leading the Alice Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland could have left Dani Pedrosa with a broken finger and fractured ankle.
Whilst some of his MotoGP World Championship rivals will be making a direct journey to Laguna Seca for next weekend´s Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix, Dani Pedrosa will be making a brief stopover in Barcelona to undergo examination on a suspected broken index finger and ankle injury.
The Repsol Honda rider was leading the Alice Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland when he crashed out of the race, taking a big impact as he was flung from his RC212V. The fall dealt a double blow to the Spaniard, who not only conceded the lead in the World Championship but also could be affected by the latest in a string of injuries.
Pedrosa was examined in the Clinica Mobile immediately after the crash, with MotoGP Medical Director Dr. Claudio Macchiagodena giving an initial diagnosis of a fractured left digit. Further examination at the Clinica Dexeus in Pedrosa´s home city will reveal the full extent of the damage caused by the Sunday afternoon spill, the cause of which he was at a loss to explain.
`It was a little strange. I had only just touched the brake and I crashed. It was a real pity because I´d got a great start and was going well. I had a good feeling. The front felt perfect, the rear was sliding just a little, but the general feeling was good considering the track conditions. It is a real pity, ´ said the rider himself.
Finger fractures are notoriously fickle for riders, as their effects can vary wildly depending on the exact location of the break and how this corresponds to the demands of gripping and operating levers. With this in mind, Pedrosa´s participation in the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix could be in
Riise AS Roma
AS Roma have announced the signing of Norwegian left-back John Arne Riise from Liverpool FC for a fee of €5m, which could rise to €5.75m with appearances.
Unhappy legacy
The 27-year-old, who has scored eight goals in 71 games for Norway, leaves Liverpool after seven seasons. Last term he played 22 games in the Premier League and scored an unfortunate added-time own goal in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final against Chelsea FC as Liverpool were defeated 4-3 on aggregate. In total, he scored 21 goals in 234 league games for the Anfield side, whom he joined in 2001 after spells with Aalesunds FK and AS Monaco FC. Roma will compete in the 2008/09 UEFA Champions League group stage after finishing second in Serie A.
Cristiano Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo is not expecting to return for Manchester United FC until early October, ruling him out of the start of their UEFA Champions League group stage campaign.
Twelve-week absence
The Portuguese winger underwent ankle surgery in Amsterdam on Monday, and the English and European champions will assess his state at the start of August. However, the 23-year-old is quoted on United's official website as saying: "It's confirmed I'll be out of action for up to 12 weeks but recovery is going well. I must focus on my recovery. I'll be training with a ball in two months." Ronaldo, who moved from Sporting Clube de Portugal in 2003 and scored in United's UEFA Champions League final defeat of Chelsea FC in May, could miss the first two group stage games if his prognosis is correct, as well as the UEFA Super Cup against FC Zenit St. Petersburg in Monaco on 29 August and Premier League fixtures against the likes of Liverpool FC and Chelsea.

Jeremy Burgess and Valentino Rossi spoke to motogp.com after the Italian rider regained the advantage in the MotoGP title race in Germany.
Crew Chief to Valentino Rossi in the Fiat Yamaha team, Jeremy Burgess was understandably a happy man at the conclusion of the Alice Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland weekend.
Rossi took the runner-up spot in the German MotoGP contest in the rain on Sunday and moved back to the top of the championship, after Dani Pedrosa crashed out of the lead on lap six.
The result saw Rossi back at the top of the standings, 16 points clear of Pedrosa and 20 ahead of race winner Casey Stoner, much to the satisfaction Burgess who commented, `The bonus of the extra points is obviously of some benefit to us and hopefully we can carry that advantage through to the end, but Casey is riding very well too, so we will have to wait and see.´
Asked whether the team had been concerned by Pedrosa´s lightning fast start, before the Catalan rider – who had until today been leading the championship – crashed out on lap six, Burgess replied, `At that stage we were concerned because our target was to get through, to be on the podium. We were aware from our qualifying position that the job ahead of us was going to be a difficult one so our first priority was to get through the rest and then see what was there with Casey and Dani.´
`In the end things panned out differently because Dani wasn´t there after five or six laps and Casey was where we expected him to be and we were able to achieve what we set out to do.´
Rossi himself stated, `This result is positive for me especially because I go back to the top of the ranking and also second place today is not too bad considering this track and the bad conditions. I had a good feeling with my bike and tyres and I had fun riding in the rain.´
`After I found my rhythm and I saw Dani in the gravel trap I tried to take on Casey but he was so fast and it was not possible. I am happy though because I was fast until the end and we have to keep working but we are going in the right way in the wet.´

Laga Pembuka Berakhir Imbang
Dua jawara dari masing-masing grup di Liga Indonesia (Ligina) 2007 saling berhadapan dalam laga pembuka Indonesia Super Liga (ISL) 2008. Juara bertahan Sriwijaya FC yang bertindak selaku tuan rumah tidak mampu memanfaatkan keuntungan. Laskar Wong Kito harus puas memperoleh satu poin setelah ditahan imbang Persipura Jayapura dengan skor 2-2 (1-1) di Stadion Gelora Sriwijaya, Jakabaring, Palembang pada Sabtu, 12 Juli.
Meski bertajuk pertandingan perdana, kedua tim bermain lepas tanpa tekanan. Sejak menit pertama kedua tim saling bertukar serangan. Menit ke-12 Persipura membuka ancaman melalui Beto Goncalves. Tapi tendangan Beto melebar di samping kanan gawang. Tujuh menit kemudian peluang tuan rumah melalui sepakan kaki kiri Ngon Azam tipis di atas mistar.
Menit ke-23 Persipura kembali mengancam melalui tendangan Ian Luis Kabes. Meski antisipasi kurang sempurna, kiper Ferry Rotinsulu masih mampu menyelematkan gawangnya. Sriwijaya memperoleh peluang emas tiga menit kemudian. Sundulan Ngon Azam yang tidak terlepas dari kurang sempurnanya Jendri Pitoy dalam memetik bola dari tendangan penjuru Toni Sucipto masih belum menemui sasaran.
Setelah tendangan placing Eduard Ivakdalam hanya nyaris mengoyak gawan di menit ke-35, semenit kemudian Ernest Jeremiah membungkam publik Jakabaring. Tim asuhan pelatih asal Negeri Jiran, Raja Isa, unggul 2-1 menit ke-52 lewat sepakan Beto memanfaatkan kejelian kapten tim Persipura, Eduard Ivakdalam dalam mengirim umpan terobosan. Sriwijaya yang Januari lalu mengalahkan Persipura di final Copa Dji Sam Soe 2007, mencoba untuk menyamakan kedudukan.
Serangan yang dibangun pasukan Rachmad Darmawan banyak bertumpu pada Richard Obiora. Tapi, gol balasan baru bisa dilesakkan pada menit ke-79. Bola umpan Richard Obiora diselesaikan oleh sundulan Ngon Azam dan skor pun berubah 2-2. Tempo permainan meningkat namun sampai pertandingan berakhir kedua kesebelasan tidak ada yang menambah jumlah gol.
